Hut 8 CEO says concerns over AI data center water use are overblown
Description
So much of what's driving this is fears that are not right. The biggest fears around data centers today are water consumption, rising energy pricing, noise and then general AI jobs.” Hut 8 CEO Asher Genoot addressed concerns over AI data centers on the latest Blockspace Live, claiming that they are mostly based on misconceptions or outright lies – especially regarding water and electricity rates. “I think data centers today and – if not now, they are going to soon – are closed loop. You're no longer using water to cool down the chips. The second is in terms of energy. If you think about building a data center today, data centers are asked to pay for all the upfront CapEx and upgrade all the infrastructure, transmission lines, and electrical systems to support that energy. So you're actually investing into a better grid for everyone else to use.” Catch the latest episode of 'The Blockspace Pod,’ in partnership with Blockspace Media! 📺 Watch: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZBo-pYEI9lyjxoojq_X8MA?sub_confirmation=1 🎧 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2jyIhkvAQhed8AWDZiPpSP 🎧 Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coindesk-podcast-network/id1414384043
