BNB and Chainlink play different roles in crypto's infrastructure. BNB is the native utility token of the BNB Chain ecosystem and the Binance exchange — a Layer 1 platform asset that pays for gas and smart contract deployment while granting trading fee discounts. LINK is the token of Chainlink, the industry-standard decentralized oracle network, which feeds verified real-world data to smart contracts on many blockchains, including BNB Chain itself.
Their technical positions differ. BNB secures and fuels its own Proof of Stake blockchain. LINK has no chain of its own: it is a token, issued primarily on Ethereum, used to pay the decentralized node operators who fetch, validate, and deliver data such as price feeds. Supply mechanics also contrast: BNB is capped at 200 million with about 133 million circulating and is reduced over time through periodic burns, while LINK has a fixed maximum of 1 billion tokens with roughly 748 million circulating and no burn mechanism.
