About Bitget Token
Bitget Token (BGB) launched in 2021 as the platform token of the Bitget exchange and Bitget Wallet. In that role it functioned like other exchange tokens: holders received trading fee discounts, access to launchpad events, and other platform benefits tied to their balance.
In September 2025 Bitget entered a strategic partnership with the Morph chain, and responsibility for BGB's future development passed to the Morph Foundation. Following that change, BGB is positioned as the gas, governance, and payment token of Morph's network rather than purely as an exchange loyalty token.
Dual role
That transition means BGB now spans two functions. On the exchange side it continues to carry platform utility for Bitget users. On the chain side it is intended to pay transaction fees and carry governance rights within the Morph ecosystem. Tokens that serve both a centralized platform and a blockchain network can be harder to evaluate than single-purpose tokens, because demand comes from two sources with different drivers.
Supply
BGB has a maximum supply of 2 billion tokens. Total supply currently sits at roughly 911 million and circulating supply at around 700 million, meaning a meaningful portion of the maximum has never been issued and part of the issued amount is not yet circulating. Bitget has historically run token burns that reduce supply over time, and the terms of any burn program are set by the issuer rather than fixed in protocol code.
Anyone evaluating BGB should look at current documentation from both Bitget and the Morph Foundation, since the token's economics and governance rights were restructured after the 2025 partnership.
