Vision

Vision, ticker VSN, is the native token of the Web3 ecosystem built by Bitpanda, an Austrian investment platform that has operated in European retail markets since 2014. The token is intended to connect Bitpanda's regulated centralized business with decentralized on-chain products.

How Vision works

The project describes VSN as powering activity across several components: a self-custody DeFi wallet, Layer 2 infrastructure referred to as Vision Chain, a launchpad, and interoperability tooling. This positions it differently from a conventional exchange token, since the stated purpose extends to on-chain infrastructure rather than being limited to fee discounts on a trading platform. The emphasis throughout the project's material is on regulatory compliance within European frameworks, consistent with Bitpanda's licensed status in several EU jurisdictions.

VSN has a maximum supply of 4.2 billion tokens, all issued as total supply, with roughly 3.75 billion in circulation. It is issued on Ethereum and Arbitrum according to its categorisation.

Role in the ecosystem

Vision belongs to a group of tokens issued by regulated European financial platforms that are extending into on-chain products. That approach contrasts with crypto-native protocols that begin permissionless and address regulation later. For users, the practical implication is that access and functionality may be gated by jurisdiction and by identity verification. As with any platform token, the benefits attached to holding it are policies set by the issuer rather than protocol-level guarantees. The combination of a licensed European brokerage business with on-chain infrastructure is a pattern that several established platforms have pursued, on the reasoning that regulatory clarity in the European Union under the Markets in Crypto-Assets framework favours firms that already hold licences. Whether that translates into usage of the token itself depends on how much of the ecosystem's activity genuinely routes through it.
