How the Verification Works

Kraken's new system flags phone callbacks as verified in real time when a support agent calls a user on a standard phone line. During the call, users can ask the agent to read back a one-time verification code displayed in the Kraken app. If the code matches what the agent provides, the user can confirm they are speaking with someone from Kraken. The feature is now live across Kraken's Consumer Mobile, Pro Mobile, and Krak applications, with improved detection on Android devices.

Stronger Warnings for Unverified Calls

Calls that cannot be confirmed as originating from Kraken now trigger a much stronger warning message. Users who receive an unverified call will see a clear on-app notification instructing them to hang up and report the suspicious activity. The exchange said the change addresses a persistent threat vector: scammers routinely impersonate Kraken support to build false urgency or trust, then persuade victims to move funds, share login credentials, or disclose two-factor authentication codes during the call.
