Which crypto exchange has the lowest trading fees?
At the base spot tier, the lowest taker fee among the 11 exchanges we compare is 0.05% (MEXC). On a $1,000 market order that is $0.50. Fees fall with 30-day trading volume and some exchanges run zero-fee promotions on selected pairs, so check each exchange's notes.
Which crypto exchange has the highest trading fees?
The highest base-tier taker fee among the exchanges we compare is 1.2% (Gemini), or $12.00 on a $1,000 market order. High-volume traders pay considerably less on every exchange.
What is the difference between maker and taker fees?
A maker order adds liquidity to the order book, such as a limit order that waits to be filled; a taker order removes it, such as a market order that fills immediately. Exchanges usually charge takers more, which is why the taker rate is the one to compare if you trade with market orders.
Methodology
This page covers the exchanges in our exchange reviews. Each rate is the spot maker and taker fee at the lowest 30-day-volume tier, recorded with a link to the source and the date it was retrieved; the same figures appear on each review.
The example cost applies the taker rate to a single $1,000 market order. It leaves out spreads, deposit and withdrawal fees, and token-based discounts, and every exchange charges less as trading volume grows. Promotional zero-fee pairs and regional differences are described in each exchange's notes. Always check the official fee schedule before trading.
