About MetaDAO
MetaDAO is a fundraising and governance platform on Solana built around futarchy, a governance model in which decisions are made by market prices rather than by direct voting. META is its native token.
How futarchy works
In a conventional token vote, holders vote yes or no and the majority decides. Under futarchy, each proposal creates two conditional markets: one where the token trades assuming the proposal passes, and one assuming it fails. Traders buy and sell in both markets, and the proposal is adopted if the market where it passes prices the token higher. The reasoning is that participants who believe a proposal is good will bid the conditional token up, and those who believe otherwise will sell, so the decision reflects informed conviction backed by capital rather than uninformed or apathetic voting.
This addresses a real weakness in token governance, where voter turnout is often low and large holders can dominate outcomes without any cost for being wrong. Under futarchy, being wrong is expensive because traders take a position with their own capital.
META has no fixed maximum supply in the available data, with total and circulating supply both around 22.7 million tokens.
Role in the ecosystem
MetaDAO is the most substantial live implementation of futarchy, a concept proposed by economist Robin Hanson well before blockchains existed but rarely tested in practice. The platform is also used for fundraising, where projects raise capital under futarchic governance so that ongoing decisions about the treasury are subject to the same market-based mechanism.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is MetaDAO?
MetaDAO is a fundraising and governance platform on Solana that uses futarchy, where decisions are determined by market prices rather than by direct token voting. META is its native token.
How does MetaDAO work?
Each proposal creates two conditional markets, one pricing the token if the proposal passes and one if it fails. The proposal is adopted if the pass market values the token more highly, so decisions reflect capital-backed conviction rather than turnout.
What is META's maximum supply?
No fixed hard cap is published in the available data. Total and circulating supply are both around 22.7 million META.
What is futarchy?
Futarchy is a governance model proposed by economist Robin Hanson in which participants vote on goals but decide policies through prediction markets, letting prices determine which choice is expected to produce the better outcome.
Where can I buy MetaDAO?
META trades primarily on Solana decentralized exchanges. You can compare supported platforms on our [exchanges page](/exchanges).
